This past weekend was the latest Pokemon Go Community Day Event which feature the Generation Three Starter Torchic. While it was not the most exciting event since starting, the fact that it overlapped with a number of other relatively new things going on made it interesting. For example, it gave me an opportunity to participate in a Raid battle with one of the newest Legendary Pokemons, Azelf! I was happy to be able to catch the first and only one I have done so far.
I started the event having a late lunch at the mall which was purposely located near several PokeStops in order to start catching a number of Torchics in an effort to get a number of Shiny form. In addition, I bought one of the new lures that increases the spawn rate of certain Pokemon types in addition to having the ability to evolve a new form of Eevee when near it. I decided to evolve an Eevee into Glaceon which looks pretty great.
Only sitting to eat lunch got me two shinies and while walking to the Raid I was able to get another which secure me to have the ability to have one shiny form for each evolution of Torchic. I quickly evolved them in order to not forget as evolving into Blaziken provided the exclusive charge move, Blast Burn. On the way back to the car I found two more shinies as I stopped for some snacks. It was a great time to just leave after about two hours as I really didn’t have much more to do if I got more shinies.
It worked out pretty well as I got a couple of new Pokemons for the Pokedex which is always great! Being able to do it while getting things done like eating and shopping helped the day go faster. I met with a lot of the community that continues to actively play and from my talks, seems that I have been missing out of some things. I will be following up with some of them to see what I have missed and what is still to come!
Thanks!
