Scarification makes people of different tribes around the world. However Papua, New Guinea, Sepik River tribe men practice it extensively. After a long seven days of public humiliation, there is a small ceremony to release from that which is ridiculously painful. The elderly members of the tribe made a pattern imitating alligator's skin on the back of their young men. They do this by using blades without any anesthesia. They do it to deceive the river alligators so that their newborn boys can grow up. The story is that if the eligator sees them from behind, then they will think of the size of the back of the boy and another alligator. What the intellect !!!
