So let's get straight into it, the clock is tickin':
All she could see in the mirror was red..the blood caking on her forehead...frozen in place.She was not upset, nor worried....numbness had overshadowed all those feelings that threatened to choke her up.She simply rose, graceful even in oblivion, and slowly dragged her body to the basin.Quietly following the notions that she had become so used to now, she washed her face discovering that the source of blood this time was her forehead where he had smashed the beer bottle. The sting of alcohol burned the cut..she was expecting the tears to well up in those big blue eyes of hers.....but even they refused to come out.
Again, mustering up both the will and the energy, she quietly closed the toilet door behind her.Slowly, she made her way to Flora's room afraid that her daughter might have heard her blood-curdling scream.Her fears were confirmed when she found five -year old Flora on the floor, hugging her teddy bear tightly as if it were a shield.Covering the distance between herself and Flora, she wrapped her into an embrace.It was for her and for only her that she suffered in silence.
