So finally get my professional evaluation submitted and ready for the final paper of the architecture profession which is LAM Part III. At the very first, there are like procrastination and reluctance to start the report and kept dragging to the very end of the deadline. Not a good example but I’m thankful that I’m able to have helpful mentors and friends who had given me reference and comments which help in the process.
After getting through the report, it is like summarizing the jobs that I had done so far. This is a good practice to be honest that gave us an overview on what had went through in the course of 3-5 years for every single projects. In between, there are different issues arises which require a solution that actually comply to the statutory requirements and contract clauses. It is a very good practice for us in order we can utilize the case studies for future usage.
Then, I do think through writing the report, it allows me to have a deeper understanding on how each statutory acts are linked. For example in a housing development, there are different acts that govern the development and ensure it is safe, convenient, beneficial to the community as well to the nation. Under building safety, we have Uniform Building By Laws, Street, Drainage and Building Act; for housing stakeholders, there are National Land Code, Housing Development Act, Strata Title Act, Strata Management Act; for construction of the development, there are Contracts like PAM Contract; for professional services like architectural consultancy services, there are Architects Act and Rules, Law of Tort. The list goes on and it is interesting to learn the relationship between these acts, by-laws and rules that shape our country.
Now is the next stage where my friends and I will start prepare for oral examination. Hopefully all of us could pass through the report stage and go into the oral stage. Once we get through the oral exam, then we are entitled to sit for the written examination which is the final stage with two papers. Can’t wait to get all of these cleared! This is one of my main OKR for the year.
