When the kids were here a couple of weeks ago we drove out past our old farm where they spent their early childhood days.
For TreeTuesday I wanted to share these pine trees that I planted myself! I remember they came in a bundle of five little bare root seedlings and I had to cut the rubber band that held them together. I stuck them in the corner of the yard up near the road, and carried a bucket of water to them a few times, but after that they were on their own and it appears that they thrived!
They have recently put in a bike trail that runs adjacent to the road and down through the old pasture, and it looks like they had to remove a couple of the pines, but these guys are doing great and make me feel really old!
Look at how big they are!
The lower portion of the farm, the 'bottom lands' down along the river has been turned into wildlife habitat and the kids were proud to see their name on the sign that the state put up.
We had an auction and sold all the equipment and moved from the farm in the early 80's during the recession, so there are lot's of old memories there for me!
