Dam V Cot Girek, from the Former Dutch Pine Garden to the Myth of Princess Green
LHOKSUKON - Artificial lake DAM Five area of 4 hectares area (Ha) located in Alue Dua Rupa Hamlet, District of Cot Girek, North Aceh was the former pineapple plantation area in the Dutch period. "According to the story, during the Dutch colony, the lake was a pineapple plantation area. At that time the Dutch utilized pineapple trees to be processed into ropes, "said Suriyanto, 52, a citizen of Cot Girek.
He added that when PG Cot Girek stood in 1970, precisely after the inauguration of former President Suharto, the water requirement for the factory was flowed from the lake. It continued until the factory closed around 1985.
"This lake is also used by fishermen to earn a living. The catch is quite large when using boats and nets. There are fish paitan, red eye, mujair, betek, cork, sepat until catfish. While I and other anglers only take advantage of leisure time while channeling hobbies, "he said.
Said Suriyanto, formerly DAM Five often take casualties that all are single men.
"Those who drown are usually fishing by boat. Suddenly the boat overturned and they disappeared. In fact there are three days the body was found. For the married is still safe. But since the last 5 years there are no more people who died in the lake, "he explained.
According to residents, continued Suriyanto, reportedly there is a penunggunya lake. She is a princess, some say Green Princess. But that's all he thinks is a myth, a matter of believing it or not back to each other's personalities.
Nanang, 36, another citizen of Cot Girek said he had used the lake as his favorite fishing spot since a few years ago.
"As long as I am fishing safely. Even I bring kids too. Besides, I just fish by sitting on the edge, not in the middle of the lake. The fish are also quite a lot, "he said with a smile.
