As many as 25 dangerous fishes were destroyed by the Fish Quarantine Agency, Fishery Products Quality and Safety Control (BKIPM) Yogyakarta.
The fish that was handed over by the residents was destroyed by using clove oil.
"These fish are the result of the Command Post of Handover of Harmful or Invasive Fish Types. This post is opened for one month," said Head of Supervision of Data and Information Control of BKIPM Yogyakarta, Haryanto, Tuesday (07/08/2018).
During the opening of the command post, namely in July 2018, the Fish Quarantine Agency, Fishery Products Quality and Safety Control (BKIPM) Yogyakarta also organized sociation into the community. The socialization is to provide education regarding dangerous fish species.
In addition, residents who maintain dangerous fish are asked to submit to the Fish Quarantine Agency, Fishery Products Quality and Safety Control (BKIPM). The community is also prohibited from releasing the fish into the river because it will damage the ecosystem.
In accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Marine and Fisheries No. 41 of 2014 concerning the entry of dangerous types of fish along with other laws and regulations which limit their circulation among Indonesian regions, there are 152 types of fish classified as dangerous.
For those caught catching fish without permission, they can be subject to a 6-year prison sentence or a fine of Rp 1.5 billion.
While those who release dangerous fish can be sentenced to 10 years in prison or a fine of Rp. 2 billion.
"A total of 25 dangerous types of fish were delivered. The fish were handed over with the awareness of their owners," he said.
It also does not only wait, but also picks up the homes of people who have dangerous types of fish.
Because, there are people who report to maintain but do not have the time or fleet to take it to the post.
