Nine months of liberation war, we all stood together against the enemy regardless of religion and caste. Thus, the liberation war united all by patronizing our patriotism and nationalism. In order to build a modern developed Bangladesh, we need this unity and patriotism all the time. During the War of Liberation, killing of intellectuals by Pakistani occupation forces is a disgusting event in the history of the world. In memory of intellectuals, a monument was built in Rayerbazar mass killing site.
Establishment and History
The current Modern Mass killing site was inaugurated on 14 December 1999. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the memorial. The killing of intellectuals by Pakistani occupation forces during the liberation war is a disgusting event. At the end of the War of Liberation a joint command was formed with the Indian Allies and our Mukti Bahini. As a result, it could be possible to attack the land, waterways and airspace simultaneously on the aggressive forces. They easily fall victim to it. Realizing the defeat, the Pakistani ruling system proceeded with the implementation of a disgusting plan to unravel the country forever with the help of some of the collaborators. They thought that if the country was unmatched, then the backbone of the Bengali nation would be broken. For this reason, they killed the intellectuals of the soil of the nation, conscience, consciousness, ideology, traditions and bearers of culture and bearers of the soil. But between 10 and 14 December, this barbarity and the massacre took a horrendous form. Instructions and guidance by the Pakistani ruling regime take away the intellectuals of the university's teachers, journalists, dramatists, artists etc. from this country and caused this massacre. They are Govinda Chandra Dev, Munir Chowdhury, Mofazzal Haider Chowdhury, Shahidullah Kaiser, Dr. Fazle Rabbi also killed many intellectuals in the first row of this country with brutal killing. Shortly after his victory, his wounds were found in the site of the monument at Rayerbazar.
To keep their memories memorable, this intellectual memorial monument was built which is known as 'Smrishnasudha' of Rayerbazar mass killing site.
