"School - prison" sounds weird and terrible, especially for fans of traditional education. But if we look deeper at the very system, at its core, then we can find definite vivid similarities.
SCHOOL is proclaimed as a place to receive the knowledge necessary for a normal life in society, a place of socialization and similar noble tasks.
But there is also definite limitation of our will and choice, especially in Russia and neighbour countries.
Yes, the law lets parents choose the form of education, but when any other choice except school meets boundaries and difficulties, there are many doubts if this choice exists in general.
When a kid goes to school, does he have a choice to choose which subjects he will study?
No.
Can he choose what days, how many hours a day will he study?
No.
Can he choose what form of education and getting knowledge he will get?
No.
Always no.
There's a system. Already formed, and you just must be its part. No changes or choices. Obeying.
Obeying to school and to...teachers.
They are proclaimed to be "super heroes" who can evaluate you and put you on definite level.
And this system of evaluation is absolutely imperfect. No individual approach, kids are elements of a mechanism.
Marks differentiate students depending on the teacher’s views on their abilities, it makes these students objects of evaluation who are forced to obey.
And what does the student do in such a situation? - he does everything to be on a definite level and not to lose it because he will be reproached and punished.
Marks are instruments of obeying and classification.
I hear every day:
"your son does not attend a kindergarten, but he will go to school, you can't avoid it, he will!!"
People can't except if somebody is different.
I do hope my country will let me use my right to choose freedom for my boy. I pray laws won't be changed during nearest years.
