"Life is too short!" —I bet you’ve heard that from someone before. The older you get the more you feel it and the shorter it is. It’s so cliche but also so true. Most of us tend to live our lives just by existing and not by living. It sounds like it’s the same thing but it’s not. Hardly, we live and enjoy life because we focus more on the future and we don’t see what’s in it for us today.
Let me share you a short story...
I don’t know if you have heard about a story of young girl who was kidnapped and got rescued 9 months later. But what really happened to this girl? I believe she was just in her house when a strange man came in and abducter her, she was just 14 years old back then. Scary! While I was watching one of her videos last night, I was inspired by her to write a blog about it. I was moved by her words.
When she was abducted she was taken to a place as she described it "way back of the mountains". She was taken by force. She was very scared and didn’t know what to do. Hoping that all of it was just a crazy nightmare! They had her showered the next day and dressed up for an occasion. This strange man came close to her and said, "You will be my new wife from now on". She couldn’t believe what he said at first. As a young girl, she didn’t know how it is to become one’s wife. All she knew this was all frightening to her. She was shocked that there is some people who are evil enough to do these horrible things. Sad to say, YES there is evil in this world and you can’t even imagine it can happen in real life! She didn’t elaborate more details of what happened in that 9 months. I was actually glad she didn’t 'cause it would have been too much for me to process it. I get so sensitive with this kind of stuff. It makes me feel so bad in a way it affects me.
The girl was rescued 9 months later. Her life will never be the same, she will always be known as the girl who was kidnapped but what I admire about this woman, yes you heard me right this girl is now a woman. She became an advocate of Women Empowerment. I admire her for her bravery. She didn’t let that part of her past ruin her whole life. She quoted, "That man already took 9 months of my life that I will never get back. I do not want to allow that man to steal more of me! So I told myself I will continue living my life." What happened to her is something she can never forget, it will remain a scar that won’t ever be erased. She still get nightmares every night but it doesn’t stop her to keep going the next day. What a very inspiring story. Even at difficult times she still found her courage to to get through it all. A brave woman who’s willing to let go from the past and go along life and live free from pain. At this moment she is now happily married and a mom to one beautiful child.
Life is hard but you are stronger. If you feel like everything is falling apart, look again what this woman went through but still stood up and facing her demons everyday. We may have different problems in life, just remember to stay strong. Find something that will motivate you! Life is short to waste it by just getting through life. Love it and enjoy it. Find time to do what you love. Make everyday count. I know some days is just hard, but every time you fall always stand back up again.
