The name Cut Meutia is no stranger to the people of Indonesia. He is one of the national female heroes from Aceh. For 20 years, he led the struggle against Dutch colonialism in his territory.
During the war against the Dutch, Teuku Ben Daud's daughter used her home like an office to hold meetings and organize strategies.
Cut Nyak Meutia, better known as Cut Meutia, died on October 24, 1910, after fighting with a Dutch force led by Marechausée in Alue Kurieng, North Aceh.
Now, the replica of the Cut Meutia house built by the Government in the form of Acehnese traditional houses has become a historical tourist attraction in North Aceh. Weekends, residents like to visit to enjoy the cool atmosphere.
Initially, the house was filled with Cut Meutia relics. However, when the Aceh conflict occurred, the government took the initiative to move goods to the historical museum in Banda Aceh, so that the objects were well maintained.
The Cut Meutia traditional house in the form of an Aceh house has two rooms flanked by two seuramoe (porch), which are front and rear. In it there are also some photographs of Cut Meutia, several photos of the leaders of the Dutch war troops, four rapa'is in the back of the seuramoe, and several frames of writing about the history of Cut Meutia and the family tree.
The house complex also has the Cut Meutia Monument, two pade kroeng (a place to store rice), Aceh's typical flour-making pounders, and a resort.
In front of him was a monument about 30 centimeters high with a brief history of the date of birth and death of the hero. Which makes the atmosphere cool, there are a number of plant species.
Maryani is 53 years old with her son, 31-year-old Muslem, taking care of the house 12 years ago. According to Maryani, every day there are always visitors, if this holiday becomes one of the favorite places to vacation.
Visitors who come are diverse, ranging from students, students to residents who bring families.
The natural atmosphere with lots of shady trees around the Acehnese traditional house amazed the newly married couples to choose this location as a premarital photo background.
"Anything around this becomes the background of the photo, because there are pade and jeungki roaches that illustrate one of the characteristics of Aceh," he said.
A hall located on the left of the house, is often used as a place for discussion and historical surgery by students. Visitors also often use the hall to relax while eating with family.
One of the visitors he met, Mutia, said that he came with his family while on vacation also wanted to know the history of one of the female national heroes.
"Besides the cool and comfortable location here, here we can also know history," Mutia said.
