How everything started?!?
I have been asking this questions to myself most recently. I had an idea and some records, as I was keeping an eye on this blockchain development over the last months, and in the end I decided to sum it up in a few words.
The Story of EOS!
Bitcoin proved the concept of trustless ledger ( 2008 )
Etherium proved the demand for generalised smart contracts ( 2014 )
EOS delivers smart platform for smart businesses ( NOW )
Lets check the past five years of Dan Larimer’s involvement in the blcockhain technologies.
1.In 2013 Dan Larimer introduces the concept of DAO ( Decentralized Autonomous Organization ) and PoS (Proof of Stake ).
2.In 2014 launches BitShares, what is a Decentralized exchange on a blockchain. At that time out there were just the BTC + BTC clones + Ripple. Exchanges had to be fast, transactions without the possibility to be reordered, should have low latency, and at the same time high throughput.
So in 2014 the DPoS ( Delegated Proof of Stake ) was invented!
3.In 2015 launches BitShares 2.0 that has high volume of TPS (transactions per second).
- Adopted some technologies from Lmax Exchange
Invented Graphene. It is well known that is proven to process hundred of thousands of TPS. - Introduction of funding + self government + account permissions, that means you don’t have public keys and hashes, but an account with a name. So you are able to transfer currencies between each other by name!
- Deployment of multisig keys ( example: a front door has double locker with 3 key holes, you need to turn 2 keys to open it or 3. It is up to you, the way you are going to set it up )
4.In 2016 he took the blockchain to the mainstream launching Steemit.
- Free user transactions ( comments, upvotes, publishing posts, money transactions, memos )
- Decentralized Budgeting
- Account recovery
- Accessible by everyone
- Hard Fork consensus
5.In 2017 block.one is developing EOSio. Block.one is a private, software company carrying out the implementation of EOSio software. Top advantages of it are: It is free + open source software!
- Dawn 1.0, which is the original Testnet was released on September 3, 2017
- Dawn 2.0( Testnet ) released on December 4, 2017
6.In 2018 block.one releases two new versions
- Dawn 3.0( Testnet ) on January 25, 2018
- Dawn 4.0( Testnet ) on May 7, 2018.
- Distribution by block.one of about 1 billion EOS tokens as ERC-20 tokens in order to achieve wide adoption of the new platform.
- By June 2, 2018 EOS ERC-20 based on ETH blockchain tokens had to be converted to EOS tokens.
EOS is an amazing story! What a ICO! The total investments in the project are whopping $4 billion!
On June 1, 2018 EOSIO's Dawn 1.0 was launched on Mainnet!
