Are you living in a storm? Are you overwhelmed by the stuff surrounding you? Does it feel like you are in a valley of darkness in which there is no exit?
I very much like Psalm 23 in which David says: "Even though I walk through the valley of death..." It sounds like a dark place to be in, right? But have you noticed that he is speaking about walking through it. He is not residing in the valley of death, neither is he planning to die there. He walks through it. It is a temporary location, it is not where he was supposed to live and put up his tent, and neither are you.

As you walk through the hardships and the struggle, optimism will shine like a light that brings joy and hope, because you know there is something better on the other side. Even if you suffer from cancer and might die soon, you can know that the grace of God is enough to carry you into eternal life with Jesus, full of joy and laughter and without tears. So, if you do not find any refugee in the thoughts of this world, then the ultimate joy and think we can look forward to is eternity with God.
