As reported by the Parity, the issue is the result of a bug in a specific multi-sig contract known as wallet.sol. The reports suggest that the matter could have been worse but for white hackers whose efforts helped recover about 377,000 ethers that were potentially vulnerable to the attack.
Parity is urging "any user with funds in a multi-sig wallet" move their funds to a secure address as they ranked the severity of the bug as critical. According to the CTO of Parity, at least three ether addresses have been compromised as a result of the bug.
