One of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges has released an official statement in which it explained its position regarding alternative token ETC.
The statement was made against the backdrop of recent issues of trade tokens ETC and negotiations between representatives of BTC-E and Poloniex exchange about the movement of Ethereum Classic.
"Under the current circumstances, Ethereum Classic is a fraud. The Ethereum community has decided to apply hardwork to switch to a new blockchain. All the major pools and exchanges, including BTC-E did it", — is spoken in the message published on the website of the exchange.
It clarifies that on the second day after the start of trading ETC BTC-E got the message from the exchange Poloniex, which refers to the need to ensure the security tokens ETC in ETH-wallets. However, by the time you receive most of these tokens have already been transferred to Poloniex users, so in the wallets to BTC-E almost nothing left, says the exchange.
"We continue to receive requests from our customers that require a return ETC, which presumably have been placed in our ETH-wallet. But we can't do it for the reasons mentioned above. Anyone who believes that we transferred the coins to Poloniex for sale, you can check all the transactions on the blockchain. All operations registered, and just trace the sender and amount," — said in a statement BTC-E.
Earlier, the us developer Andrew DeSantis drew attention to the possible vulnerability of trade-related ETH and ETC. He published a scheme in his microblog on Twitter, noting that the translation of ether coins from the exchange, which does not support two versions of the token (Coinbase) to the exchange that supports them (Poloniex), the amount was transferred in two currencies – in the ETC and ETH respectively. Soon, however, and the author himself, and his interlocutors were convinced that surgery was not confirmed in the blockchain Ethereum, therefore, the developers had to close the hole.
At the time of publication, according CoinMarketCap.com, ETC is trading at $1,76 per coin, and ETH — $12,75.
