Flippening is a the name that is attached to the scenario in which ethereum and its market cap of 80 billion dollars currently will bypass bitcoin 140 bilion $ marketcap and will become number one crypto currency. Is this really that far fetched? I dont think so, and heres why:
Ethereum has much faster transactions then bitcoin and people are using it as a currency even though it was designed for smart contracts.
Ethereum has much lower transaction fee then bitcoin.
Ethereum has smart contracts which are mostly used for raising funds for ICOs with the famous erc-20 token. These contracts really makes ethereum smart and has the ability for example to automatically refund people money if the ICO reached its cap for investments.
The same ICOs makes ethereum a much stronger coin as people not only buying it just to hodl it and hope it will appreciate in value but rather as requirement to enter a given ICO . If you want to buy an erc-20 token you have to deposit ether to an erc-20 complaint wallet like "myetherwallet" or "metamask" If you dont do it this way you will not get your tokens. This is is enough reason to hodl ethereum :)
The Casper proof-of-stake update for ethereum which will soon be released will allow whales with a minimum of 1000 ether to stake them and earn about 8% per quarter. of course there will be staking pool which will allow staking for lower amounts. This will surely make ether much stronger and people will prefer to hold it instead of bitcoin with no restrictions and earn intrest as a bonus like NEO is doing. why not really?
