Is Steemit a good professional blogging platform?
Because of the limitation imposed by the seven-day payout window, Steemit (http://steemit.com) and the rest of the blogging interfaces of the Steem blockchain are best used for non-evergreen content. One of the advantages of using a Steem front end for blogging is the near-immediate payout. You get paid a week from publishing your post and that will be it. Old posts are unlikely to garner much attention anyway. They are not too difficult to search using SteemPeak (http://steempeak.com) or Steemworld but clearly the whole experience is structured in such a way as to favour new content.
But it wouldn’t be too difficult to work around the seven-day payout window limitation by building a Steem front end that automatically added a comment to a post every week and directed all votes given to the post to the active comment instead. Such a front end could serve those bloggers and the their audiences that preferred evergreen content. The front end wouldn’t even show these placeholder comments. Such a front end should also come with much better content discovery tools to make it easier to find old posts.
