Corporate coaching is becoming popular as the daily stress of being an executive and the expectations expand, regarding what executives can achieve in their corporate environment and for their organization. Many people misinterpret the objective of executive coaching.
Goals Setting
It is not merely an executive education. It is not just a feelgood seminar. It is a continuous series of around ten sessions where the executive has one on one access to an executive coach. In the one-on-one interaction the coach and executive cooperate to come up with a certain inspiring, but challenging goals that will become the foundation for the executive coaching series.
Goals Achievement
The objective is that these goals will be created in a way that the executive will not have been able to do all alone. And once achieved perhaps have moved the executive forward in their chosen direction far beyond their expectations. Of course, once this has happened at completion of the corporate coaching series, the executive will be in a much better position mentally, both in their career and on a personal level.
Life Coaching
Why is it so that executive coaching is in fact a subdivision of life coaching? Life coaching achieves the above with a set of goals which may be applied to all walks of life from relationship, career, travel, to hobbies or financial. Since every one of these personal areas has an effect on the capacity of an executive to achieve and grow in the corporate environment, it results in the business coaching goal set extending into personal goals.
Putting Strategies into Actions
Once the goals get set in the first session all of the sessions that follow are about creating the strategies and actions, to help the executive move along the path towards those goals. This journey is full of emotional ups and downs. It is not just about preparing a list of to-do items and then doing them. If that is all there was to achieving the goals, then the executive probably may have already achieved them. Since they haven't yet achieved them obviously signify that something is holding them back that could be owing to any one of many factors namely their mindset, their emotions around that area or physical obstacles.
Summing Up
What normally happen in executive coaching is that as the executive starts working on the strategies and actions that will move them forward, these obstacles appear. And, at this point a executive coach is needed to guide the executive in moving forward past these obstacles.
