The below GIF is what the last few weeks have felt like. You know why. Between various world events, governments' wars on their people and their rights and their money, it being that time of the year, the almost-ban on kratom, DAPL, the frenzy in the wake of the election in the US and what seems like it's going to be a never-ending clown show, stupid arguments about "fake news," the IRS and Coinbase, and, would you believe it, my being temporarily banned from Facebook, a.k.a Stasibook (credit goes to Jacob Appelbaum - speaking of, why aren't he and Amir Taaki on Steemit?)... I mean, where to begin? Just as I expect a breather, something else happens and one-ups its predecessor.
Now that I am by and by getting some time, time for me to start piecemealing. And I have been watching with the corner of my eye what has been happening here on Steemit in terms of developments. Already just preparing a post I can see things have been changing. (The profile pictures, finally!) So much, so much love.
Well, obviously, my temporary ban experience with Stasibook trumps (no pun intended) everything else. We already know @emancipatedhuman has experienced this, only permanently, it would seem at this time. And I know I am not alone: see Luke Rudkowski's post on rushing back to Steemit.
And it all began with me posting, in a closed group, a link to a story about how some members of Pussy Riot (together with their other friends in the art collective Voina) broke into the Biology Museum in Moscow in 2008 and had an orgy, supposedly.
A few hours later I was banned from Stasibook, albeit temporarily.
You will remember that Stasibook came under criticism a few months ago for mindlessly censoring and censuring someone for posting the famous "Napalm girl" photo.
Now I am gun-shy, so I don't think I'm going to be posting that here in case Steemizens, the majority of whom seem to be North Americans, exercise Amerikansky prudish behaviour and flag me or something. Yes, that is the root of the issue. Amerikansky Puritan prudishness, in case you haven't been reminded of it enough. I don't know that there is banning here, just that being downvoted/flagged enough will do you in.
Which brings me to the idea of someday hoping to see a purpose-built website, like Steemit, where like-minded people post about the things they like without getting treated like children. I don't know that I would embark on one for myself, at least not in the short- or medium-term. And for once I'll be the whale and I will be upvoted for being as twisted as I am.
Meanwhile Bitcoin has been rising and, on the day of the US election, I got my ticket to Anarchapulco 2017 on sale, through Bitcoin, and, I guess, cost-averaged between my buys and what I paid that day, it came to about $100. That was sweet, thank you, organizers, for that one. Now I need to find a place to stay as apparently the affiliated hotels are booked.
In the meantime, here are today's Cards Against Anarchy. Not quite out-of-date yet, huh?
