I'm driving to work this morning listening to NPR as I usually do when all of sudden the Zuckerborg's tentacles start being discussed on air. Data breach? Again?
Who could possibly be surprised? Honestly as much as my family and friends think I'm a little weird for having deleted my Facebook more than a year ago, I think deep inside they know they should get out of there too.
The defense this time however, is pretty solid. You see, it's on the fine print, it actually says that they can sell your info to their partners, to Netflix, Microsoft and who knows who else. All good, right? Of course not, of course this is bovine excrement of the steamiest kind and nobody should be doubting it for a second.
The logic is simple my friends, very simple. You are the product being sold, that is why "Facebook is free" for the same reason that we don't charge the chickens to live in our cages.
I'm still baffled how people don't see this, and how little people care for their privacy. I mean, since when is privacy a luxury? As things are functioning these days, that is precisely how it is.
But I'm not naive about this either, I know Facebook is not just going to belly up tomorrow because they got caught with their hands in the cookie jar again. As a matter of fact, the Zuckerborg's army has been exploring blockchain and rumor has it that a facecoin will surely see the light of day in 2019. I fully expect for many misinformed personalities to how bathe in the puddle of emulated liberty once they announce it, but I will stay as far as I possibly can from it all.
I'll leave you with one question my friends. Did you delete that garbage already? If not, what are you waiting for?
