Over the past few months we have been totally brain-farting and forgetting about the Home Depot Kids Workshop. It happens the first weekend of each month, parents bring their kids to come and build and paint little projects. From bird houses to picture frames there are tons of cool little projects. The kids each get an apron and for every project they complete they get a pin that can be placed on their apron. Oh ya....it’s completely 100% free. How cool it that?! So come along with ,
and I as we take on another Home Depot Kids Workshop Project.
Mama Splatts is always on the ball. This morning she caught me a little off guard, I guess I had no clue what day it was.
“Hey, do you wanna take the kids to do the Home Depot Project?”
What?!? It’s the 1st already!! Holy crap!! This is what happens every month. I totally forget about the Kids Workshop and have something planned to do or totally forget about it. It really starts to bug because I know the kids love doing it. Mama Splatts saves the day once again.
Upon arrival at the Home Depot we were blinded by the sunlight as we headed towards to front entrance. Then we were met with a thick crowd of parents and children all piling into the Kids Workshop area. This place is crowded, DANG!!
So we wondered around a little bit hoping to let some people get their projects done and for the place to clear out some. From one end of the store and all the way back, the amount of people hasn’t seemed to shrink much. So we gave it another 10 minutes or so and found our opportunity to strike and get our projects and get a spot at the workshop tables.
We swooped in and signed in and the kids each picked up their projects, then we scoped out a spot to get to work.
I was going to tell you what the project is but I figured I would keep you in suspense and make you wait. he he he These Kids Workshop Project are relatively simple and easy. They provide you with Kid friendly instructions and the tools to complete the project.
With very minimal adult supervision your kids will have no problem being productive and creative. Bringing the kids here was a friendly reminder that I need to make the time and do this at the first of every month. They each got so focused on their projects and did such a great job. I love seeing that.
Tis’ the season
Now that their project is all put together it’s time to apply some paint. Buuuuut .... we might have to hang out for a minute. The paint booth is packed!! These projects don’t paint themselves you know. These artists need to be able to take their time to finish their master pieces.
After getting the kids situated at their spot in the paint booth, I noticed supplies were getting a little short. Paint was lacking in the trays, lack of paper towels for clean up, brushes getting multiple colors on them. Things were in shambles after having a crowd of kids come through this place. So sometimes you just gotta help yourself and help the other people around you. So I just went over to the supply table and started cutting boxes open to see what was inside. Some fresh plates for the paint and new sponge brushes are just what these kids need.
As for the parents, the paper towels were kind of hard to find, so I decided to pass some out. Seeing parents looking and struggling to find something to wipe any excess paint off with, I surprised them with a paper towel to get the job done.
Things did get a little messy but hey you will have that when you combine kids with paint.
After laying their sweet paint jobs down with the perfect colors of their choice. We let them dry a little bit while we fetched their certificates, a candy cane, and their pin of completion.
Check out these Masterpieces
With a few stickers that came in the kit these projects turned out really well. Just a few more decorations for the Splatts house specially made by my little Splatts’
So if you have kids and a Home Depot close to you, take your kids to go and participate in the Home Depot Kids Workshop. It’s a blast!!
