If you got these two components then you are ready to Roll!
You are already more than halfway there. The bigger the tire the better, probably the one from a tractor will be best.
The Problem
This summer we were living in a house outside of town and my son just loves to play in the sand. When we walked to the playground, he could sit in the sand for hours. That is great but we wanted him to have a chance to play in the backyard as well. If you just bring in the sand and drop it in the backyard it will be all over the place after one day of playing. And making a sand box out of wood would take too long to build and color. To buy one would be expensive and hard to bring by a small car.
The Solution
So as I was trying to find out what is the best way for my son to enjoy some sand games in the backyard I saw a big black tire near our neighbor's house. And everything just added up in my head easily as 2 + 2.
This was a used tire that they did not need, so they easily gave it to me. Usually, they would have to pay for recycling a tire, so I even saved them a couple bucks :))
Next part involves finding some fine and clean sand to play in. Luckily for me, there was a big pile of white sand just nearby. So I grabbed a shovel and a wheelbarrow. It took me about 5 rounds to get all the sand I needed. And considering loading, unloading, and trips there and back it took me about 35-40 minutes in total.
Some tips before you start
1 tip: Be wise enough to flatten the ground where you want to place your wheel with sand because later on, it will be really hard to correct.
2 tip: Clean out the tire well outside and inside so it is safer for your child.
3 tip: Check that there are no ants or other insects near the place where you want to build your sandbox.
4 tip: Think of something to cover your sandbox in case it rains. You can cut out a sheet of wood in a round shape.
5-6 wheelbarrows of sand and a shovel
Fill all the sides with sand with your hands and then place a big pile of sand on top because some sand will get thrown away and some will bet tamped. The more sand the better.
This will probably be not enough
Then drive your kid around in a wheelbarrow, my son loves it.
Since you already found a wheelbarrow you could drive your child around in it, just for fun.
That is how it should look in the end
That is the stuff. You could also paint the wheel in any color you would like. I actually planned to do it, but I never had the perfect conditions to do it. It either rained or my son Iliya was playing in the sandbox. If I would have painted it, he would have to wait for the whole day, and that would be just too long to wait )))
What you will need:
- Big wheel
- Shovel
- Wheelbarrow
- Clean sand
- Good mood
This will be your child's mood after playing there
My son has spent a lot of time in this sandbox and he invited his friends to play in it, too. Every day he played in it.
I wish you to be more creative and find simple and quick solutions to your problems. Remember any problem is an opportunity. If you see problems as opportunities than you will be able to succeed in life.
