Hello to you all and I hope this article reaches you in good health(We're gonna need it...)
The definition of evidence, if it to be appropriately named, must be the account of someone with 1ST HAND KNOWLEDGE of the event in question.
I would like to bring to your attention, a hearing that looks into historic trafficking of our children all over the world.
It was a video I watched a while ago and I have been meaning to do some kind of blog about what I heard. The statements still haunt me now. Nevertheless, they need to be heard and with the current climate around
Hive account@familyprotection being somewhat suspicious, I think it is about time we made an irrefutable statement. One that can be referred to whenever doubt is cast our way.

IICSA Child Migration Programmes case study Public Hearing - Day 1 27/2/17
(Scroll down to see full Video of public hearing)
Important statements taken from transript
Opening statement made by Henrietta Hill, QC for the Inquiry
(Page 6)
"The focus of this case study is the period beginning in 1945 and ending in the present day, and during that period the overwhelming majority of child migrants were sent to Australia, with far smaller numbers sent to Southern Rhodesia, New Zealand and Canada. ".

Statement by Miss Weereratne QC. Counsel for core participant
Narrowing the view
(Page 27/28)
" setting the context of this inquiry, we say there are four key points to make. The inquiry will hear there is good evidence that the UK Government and agencies knew in the 1940s and 1950s of the poor standards of care in Australian institutions and in some instances about sexual assaults also. Secondly, that the UK Government failed to respond to stop child migration until it fizzled out in 1970. Third, that it took 50 years before this shameful history was scrutinised by a parliamentary committee in 1998, and now this public inquiry commencing nearly 70 years later. Fourth, that the fact of sexual abuse and the deplorable and abusive conditions these children lived in is now well established. Many British boys and girls were sent overseas by voluntary agencies. It is not controversial to state, Madam Chair, that only healthy, white children were regarded as suitable child migrants intended to populate the empire. Migration was subsidised by taxpayers in the UK and Australia and the evidence will show that voluntary agencies stood to gain financially and to obtain cheap labour into the bargain".

Statement made by Miss Weereratne QC.
The Government have been trafficking children for decades(At least!)
(Page 29)
"In 1956, the Ross Fact-Finding Mission set by the UK Government was highly critical of the institutional character of many of the homes to which children were sent and produced a confidential list of those that should be blacklisted. Yet the inquiry will hear that the UK Government failed to legislate or issue regulations to protect children being sent by voluntary agencies to substandard institutions in Australia until 1982, a decade after the schemes had ended. In failing to do so, there is evidence that the inquiry will hear that the Home Office and the Commonwealth Relations Office bowed to political pressure exerted by prestigious and powerful sending institutions, for example, Fairbridge, with royal patronage and by the Australian Commonwealth Government with a mission to boost the post-war population of Australia with good, white British stock"
Statement made by Miss Weereratne QC.
The Baddies
(Page 31)
"The inquiry will hear evidence that shows there was contemporaneous knowledge of sexual assaults in Australian institutions run by Fairbridge, the Christian Brothers, the Salvation Army and Barnardo's. These existing findings we say must be the starting point for this inquiry. Turning to the evidence, Dr Humphreys will say that many British former child migrants were subject to multiple crimes including torture, rape and slavery. They also experienced several different forms of abuse, including loss of identity and deception regarding their origins and family and backgrounds

Sent to work as slave labour
(Page 32)
"We were sent to what we can only describe as labour camps, where we were starved, beaten and abused in despicable ways and all ties to our family and country were severed."
"Over the course of the next two weeks, we will also hear about slave labour. The children were expected to work long hours and weekends making bricks for building projects, working as labourers in their bare feet, building cow sheds, shearing and killing sheep. Young boys worked in rock quarries in the baking heat of Australia. This work, you will hear, was done under the threat of continual physical and sexual assaults. In some cases you will hear that sexual assaults occurred where the children were made to labour. One boy, at the age of 14, will say he was forced to work as a builder at Bindoon and fell off a roof onto a pile of rocks:"
"I cried in pain for two weeks. The brothers, who were supposed to be caring for me, continually told me to shut up and get back to work. At night, I would scream in agony. Finally, I was taken to the Royal Perth Hospital where they found I had a broken arm and a broken leg. Girls were made to do domestic labour and clean"

Children Were Taken Out of Class(Page 35)
"We were terrorised in the class room by sexual predators like Brother Murphy, too exhausted and afraid to learn anything, leaving me barely literate and confined to low-paid, hard manual work for the rest of my life". One witness, whom you will hear from tomorrow, will say, "Instead of being encouraged and supported, I was taken out of school. "You're just too stupid to educate", she was told, and was put to work as domestic labour at Fairbridge. "Free labour for them but no future for me. I was repeatedly told all I was good for was cleaning".

Fed Shit & Vomit
(Page 36)
"Even their basic needs for food and warmth were not met. Some children have complained of being known by a number not a name. One witness will speak about being forced to eat his own vomit, others forced to eat food full of vermin or rotten. One will say, "At Fairbridge, we grew healthy crops and livestock produced quality meat, yet we were fed shit. The animals were given better food to eat". Girls were provided with one sanitary pad a day during menstruation.

Summing things up.
(Page 37)
"To conclude, some words about redress.
Some of the former child migrants have participated and made statements to other Commissions and inquiries. Man have found the redress schemes to be traumatic and satisfactory due to a lack of transparency or common standards. Individuals feel they have been sold out by governments and institutions. Very serious crimes have been committed against many children with very few perpetrators being brought to justice or being held to account. You will hear how some witnesses feel they have been paid off with a pittance and silenced. Even today, the inquiry will hear there are many questions unanswered for these witnesses. Some of them are as follows: why were they sent across the world and why were they not kept in England? Why has it been so difficult to obtain their own records? Why were they told that they were orphans when their family members were alive in England? Why were children deported without their mother's knowledge or consent? How can that have been lawful? How were the children selected for deportation? Why did the British Government allow child migration to continue after the war? Why has it taken so long for any acknowledgement of these terrible crimes against children and their families? We are told that these questions will be explored in the second stage of hearings".
