You may remember Oregon as the first state to allow doctor assisted suicide... always on the cutting edge of medical overreach bordering on outright insanity- Oregon will now require home visits by medical "professionals" for all children upon leaving the hospital. This latest bit of unconstitutionality comes from Governor Kate Brown, a left-wing ideologue who believes that government should intercede into every aspect of life. Brown, one of the most corrupt governors in the US has unilaterally decided that "several health initiatives aimed at children’s behavioral (mental) health under the oversight of the Oregon Health Authority and Oregon’s Coordinated Care Organizations, a 'uniquely Oregon approach to blending a wide array of health services under one umbrella.'” Like assisted suicide, what begins in Oregon will spread like a cancer throughout other states.
The Beaverton Valley Times interviewed Patrick Allen, the director of the Oregon Health Authority, who reportedly expressed excitement at the prospect of requiring home visits of all new parents, including adoptive parents:
When the program is complete, every new parent — this includes adoptions — would receive a series of two or three visits by someone like a nurse or other health care practitioner.
The visits could include basic health screenings for babies; hooking parents up with primary care physicians; linking them to other services; and coordinating the myriad childhood immunizations that babies need.
A marvelous way to push mandatory vaccinations. " Allen made it clear that they were targeting all children, not just troubled families:
“This isn’t something for people in trouble. This is stuff all kids need.” Allen said."
Once again government becomes the ultimate arbiter of what is good and proper for children, not the parents... it's the "nanny state" at its worst. " Given what we have reported here at Health Impact News, and especially on our MedicalKidnap.com website, can we really trust that medical professionals employed by the government who come into our homes are going to actually benefit our children and families?"
The 4th Amendment is very explicit about the state entering someone's home, and more importantly what or whom may be removed:
What about the 4th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which the Cornell Law School states “originally enforced the notion that ‘each man’s home is his castle,'” and says:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. [Emphasis added]
Not only is a warrant based on probable cause- in this case there must be evidence of abuse or neglect- necessary, the assumption in this case is that all parents must be guilty. This is warrantless search based on ideological (that only the state is capable of parenting) premises. This goes beyond Fascism.
Is this proposed bill for universal home visits possibly just another way for the State to collect funds, and to potentially remove children from their homes and place them into the lucrative foster care and adoption system? What else could it be? There is no presumption of innocence... this places people in a position where they have to defend themselves from the state for the crime of having a child. This is just another stepping stone toward totalitarianism where all individuals are merely property of the state. No good can come from laws of this sort- except for the state who stands to reap the rewards of generous federal funds for removing children from loving homes- with no regards whatsoever for the long-term consequences for the children. This is just another government get rich quick scheme... and it's likely to spread when other states see how profitable it turns out for Oregon.
