In my #familyprotection posts I often write about Elina Zhgutova, a public figure, human rights activist and the main family protector in Russia.
This woman really does huge work every day, helping many parents to return their kids back.
One of her latest reports is "The Factor of Parental Guilt in Law Enforcement Practice of Protecting Parental Rights. Presumption of Parental Good Faith" at the Forum "Family First" that took place some days ago.
Elina told about real facts of CPS mistakes and outrage and proposed a great initiative in the end.
She told that about 50% of children are taken away from alcoholic parents, and 50% - from poor parents. She deals exclusively with the second category.
And what is important - there are practically no situations in which it is necessary to go to court to limit or deprive parental rights!!
nevertheless it happens almost every time!
It costs nothing to file an application for CPS, but returning children to their birth family costs on average
2 years and 2,000,000 rubles❗️
Can you imagine it?!
In addition, the state spends money on maintaining the children taken away in shelters.
Thus, Elina proposed to create **commissions under the governors that would assess the advisability of filing claims in court if it touches deprivation/restriction of parental rights.
It's really a nice step and a nice try to solve and improve the situation where CPS destroy more and more families every day.
Will Elina's initiative be supported?
Let's see.
