Yes, we're all introverts at the house.
But we do get occasional visitors from both sides of the family.
Truth about Filipino hospitality, it's a bit toxic. A part of the culture is providing the visitors with luxury and comfort to the expense of shelling out something they can't afford to give.
It's fine when you can, but it isn't a sin when you can't.
We don't do that at home, if visitors come, we don't buy them snacks and cold drinks.
But it doesn't mean we're rude and not hospitable—what we do is share what we have.
At home, our parents are not fond of being bossy and giving chores. They are always busy and they do it by themselves.
So if there are visitors, there's no "Go, buy this and that." We create.
We love to cook and experiment at home, if they come during mealtime, we share our meals with them. But sometimes, we only eat vegetables, so were really sorry for those who can't enjoy.
If they come during snacktime, we provide fresh fruits, such as bananas, mangoes, papaya, coconuts or whichever is available.
Summertime can be too hot, even we at home get thirsty, and say, water isn't enough, how do we do it?
There's always tea at home and iced tea can always be elevated too!
Pick fresh Calamansi and add sourness to the tea. There are fresh cucumbers from the Garden, thinly slice it or cut into little cubes add to iced tea. Mix in some bruised mint leaves. Add more ice, as needed.
There are always some spaces between the spectrum of being rude and being too hospitable, and we choose giving farm-fresh refreshments to make their visit extra special.
That's all for now.
Thank you!
