Today I made a raised bed. In the past year I have already used it for spices.
First I lined the bottom and the inner walls with felt. This is to protect the wood of the bed. It is also intended to maintain soil moisture and oxygen circulation.
How I filled the bed
First I filled the bed with humus. I took the humus from old molehills on one of our meadows. According to a gardener, this humus should be particularly rich in nutrients. Then I filled the bed with 20 liters of potting soil from the hardware store. Then I sowed the seeds "Saltchyrsanthemum Chopsuey Green Shungiku". Then I pressed the seeds lightly, put them on a thin layer of humus and then slightly moistened them.
The Seeds
I have sown Lettuce Chrysanthemum Chopsuey Green Shungiku. This is a fast-growing annual spice and ornamental plant from Asia whose leaves, flowers and buds are edible. They have an intensely spicy and tart taste with notes of carrot, parsley and celery.
