I have decided to write this on the second day but thought that I would provide some backstory.
I have done intermittent 24 hour fasts on average once per week over the last 6 to 7 years. While I was exercising it was amazing as it enabled me to eat pretty much what I wanted without the need to really concentrate or be worried about diet. However, over the last couple of years the arrival of a third child and undertaking a Masters Degree my exercise time has come to a screaming halt.
It has meant that my weighty has ballooned and I am now the heaviest I have ever been and am feeling rather down about the situation. I have decided to aim for 30 days but this process will be slightly modified due to the amount of caffeine that I was consuming.
Fasting has amazing benefits for the body and has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity that can reverse people from being in a pre diabetic state. It has also been shown to increase cell autophagy which can assist in the removal of pre cancerous cells from the body. Finally, it is THE fastest way to get you body to enter a state of Ketosis as your body must shift to burning your body fat de to the complete lack of carbohydrates from the diet
I have tried a 5 to 7 day fast multiple times in the past but always failed at the end of day 2 when I would come down with a severe migraine headache. I have been doing some research and found that this is often associated with removing coffee completely. To address this I only consumed two ups of black coffee on day one and have consumed only one cup of straight black coffee on day two. For days three and three and for the coffee will be switched for green tea and hopefully this will allow me to proceed into days 6 and 7 as water only fasting and continue onto the 30 days only consuming water.
The water I am consuming is a special blend of Celtic Sea salt, Baking Soda and Potassium.
Day 1
Starting weight 97.8kg (215.6lb)
Fast went well with no hunger cravings and a good night sleep (other that a small child waking me up a few times during the night.
Day 2
Morning weight 97.3kg (214lb)
This is most probably just water weight and I don't expect the numbers to start moving until around day 5 to 6
Stay posted for daily updates as well as tips and tricks I have for along the way as I may even introduce dry fasting principals and elaborate on how that works to speed up fat metabolism
