Facebook has planned to penetrate the blockchain and pay for about a year now, which can launch its own tokens shortly after 3, 2019, anonymized sources reveal.
The company began recruiting talent for a dedicated blockchain group last year, under the leadership of David Marcus, himself as former president of PayPal.
Now, about 20% of the 50 members of the group come from the Paypal payment platform, a situation reminiscent of the so-called executive group of "PayPal Mafia" early in the 2000.
Known for his advancement in the field of young electronic payments, the group included well-known entrepreneurs such as Reid Hoffman and Peter Thiel with an expert on cryptocurrency – Elon Musk.
As we believe, Facebook's first cryptocurrency will probably be a stablecoin under the name FB coin.
Last week, some sources say companies are negotiating joint ventures with Visa and MasterCard, while they are looking for investments with a total value of $1 billion for this plan.
Another source tells the media that Facebook bought the brand "Libra" for tokens, which will be latched in US dollars and has a wide range of applications.
Facebook declined to comment on the above rumors.
