It is Friday, #featheredfriday, hosted by .
Today my post is about pheasants and in particular golden and silver pheasants.
I took the photos in Varna zoo when I visited in the summer.
To start with the golden pheasant, whicn some also called Chinese pheasant or rainbow pheasant.
This gorgeous coloured bird is male with golden crest. It is easy to be recognized by its colours.
Golden pheasant nests on trees but most of the time stays on the ground. In the zoo the pheasant share the cage with other chicken.
To be honest with you I did not look for female pheasant and I took photo only of the male.
Interesting to know that despite its colourful appearence, the bird is hard to spot in the wild.
Next photos are of silver pheasant.
Again the photos are of male bird. Relativile big bird, the male is black and white with red face.
Silver pheasant does not fly often and like the golden one stays mostly on the ground.
Silver pheasant originates from China and it was introduced in Europe in 15th century.
Both pheasants are beautiful and attractive, but my favourate is the golden one. It catches the eye instantly with the rich colours.
I wish you lovely day!
Thank you for visiting.
