I realized after re-reading my first post about Crater Earth, that before we get to the synopsis I have to better explain the way this Crater, and its universe is set up. I would love for you to walk with me through a bit of creative process. To show you how I conceive of a fictional world in such a way that it is made plausible :)

Imagine a massive egg is the universe. On the shell- the inside of the shell, are craters, and covering these Craters is a membrane. We may know it as the Van Etten belt, which is impenetrable. Or at least so we have been told. Beyond the membrane is dark matter (the whites of the egg). And in the center of this is the "yolk", which we call the sun. A massive being of light that has yet to be birthed. It moves in an orbit (still working that out) And maybe even has a counterpart- a black sun.
So I mentioned in the other post, there are places on earth that we can't explore. Heavily guarded ocean and airspace. Much like in the Truman show, we aren't allowed to get to the wall that surrounds the earth. But we are essentially looking up at the sun through a tunnel, or a tube from the inside of this Crater, which appears to be cylindrical.
And the moon is a piece of debris from the shell, caught in the dark matter outside the membrane, much like a piece of chicken eggshell would be if it were caught in the egg white substance. And it moves in an orbit, caused by the sun's rotations.
There are countless other craters. What we call stars are actually the reflections of them from the sun off the water inside the craters, varying in brightness depending on the size and amount of water. We can see a portion of them, not all, those that are at the right angle from our relative position. We couldn't see, for example, a crater if it were right "next door" through the granite or whatever material makes up the substance of the eggshell. That reflection would not be in our view outward.
And perhaps beings in some of these other craters have learned how to break through the membrane and visit other craters (UFO's); and still others have broken through the shell between craters by digging and tunneling, much like dwarves in pursuit of gold.
Side note: Gold is such an interesting element. Alchemists adore it. The elite covet and hoard it. Trapped sunlight perhaps? The key to immortality?
And maybe even now there is a tunnel system that connects our Crater with another, or others.

So to recap, the egg is the universe that we reside in, a closed system. We'll call it a Cosmic Egg. Craters are all over the inside of the eggshell, and what we previously thought of as alien planets are actually much like the moon- debris caught in the dark matter. However they have been named for other craters by those in the power structure who understand the true nature of this place. There is life in other craters, other gardens in bottles.

And we are all pieces of the yolk that is the sun. The sun of God, as we are the suns of God; beings of light that have taken on a material form.
