I wrote this little scene in a five minute freewrite using themostdangerouswritingapp.com

The room was cold and dimly lit. A table sat near the only window, the single piece of furniture in the room. He crept into the room and checked behind the door. No one. The stone floor was cold under his bare feet - he had removed his shoes in order to limit the risk of alerting them to his presence, the hard soles of his shoes made a clip clip clip noise as he walked - and he moved quickly hoping there was a rug by the table. There wasn't. On the table there was single item. A book. It was open half way and he leaned over the desk to read the page. He didn't touch the book. He knew better than that. He did not recognise the words that were written on the page. The language was not one of the thirteen he had learned since he had found himself in this world...
