While we're waiting for all the entries to come in for the Speculative Minds Flash Fiction Contest, we decided to blow your mind with an image prompt.
It's real simple what you have to do. Look at the below image, let it inspire you, and write a story in the horror-science fiction genre. In other words, give us some sci-fi with a little horror thrown in. Like Alien without Ellen Ripley.
We don't know about you, but when we saw Sigourney Weaver in that film, we weren't the least bit scared. And then the alien showed up. So what we want you to do is scare us into believing there are aliens. And you don't even have to include aliens in your story to do that. In fact, we challenge you to surprise us. Make us think an alien is going to show up, then rip out our rib cages with a microbial organism created in a lab of the future.
Whatever. You're the writer. Make it up.
