The person LOOKS like they're a Knomira harassing a Havenworlder and grabbing at their child. Until, suddenly, another being is grabbed and restrained who had been stalking the Havenworlder, and the person admits they acted in that way to keep themselves between the stalker and the Havenworlder, who had been trying to kidnap the Havenworlder's youngster. They apologize for the scare, they had only been trying to help. -- Anon Guest
Roughgrit Station had only recently been cleared for Havenworlders. They were warned in advance about this, and some standard security measures had yet to be fully installed.
Traveler Kirk had their infant Gib in a livepram, but thanks to a minor malfunction, had to open the access for small repairs and mop-up duties[1]. This necessitated an enclosed lounge for just such a need.
That was when Kirk noticed the Human following them. Their concern about that was confirmed with the breathless coo of, "Bay-bee!"
Humans had an intense desire to fondle anything cute, and Gab was particularly fragile. "Please, restraint," begged Kirk. "Child much breakable. Please no touching." They were torn between guarding their child and fending off a grabby Human. The third option, calling Security, necessitated using the comms and thus losing the capability of defending Gab.
"Aw dey so adowable," said the looming Human. "Wook at dey diddle tufties... I could cry."
"Please keeping toxic fluids at bay," warned Kirk, putting themself between the Human and the livepram. "You being frightening. Please. Backing away."
Security swarmed, at last, but they swarmed on an entirely different cogniscent also sharing the lounge. The Human backed up.
"I called Security the instant I noticed them. One of the outliers they hadn't rounded up yet. They try selling baby Havenworlders to exotic pet markets and I wasn't going to let that flakker get a chance." The Human made themself small once the safe distance was established. "Look after your baby. I'll keep watch."
Humans...
They had the weirdest ways of helping people.
[1] Because babies always necessitate mop-up duties.
