Yet again, their human was finally located... asleep at their work desk. Ah, poor human. They needed to learn to stop pushing themselves so hard. Well, the young adult had quite a bit to learn. -- Anon Guest
As a Companion, it is crucial to be aware of the needs as well as the wants of your Ship's Human. Making a study of, and contributing to the Manual of Human Behaviour is vital. Not all Humans operate according to the extant rules.
Unriddling your Human can sometimes take extended effort, perception, and heaping mountains of empathy.
Case in point, Human Tuan. One of the younger escapees from a Deregger polity. They believe whole-heartedly that work is the only thing they have of value. Poor dear.
Yes, we know. Humans are very silly about things sometimes.
Tuan has a problem with over-work. They spend every hour they have on some project. When they're not doing scheduled work, they work on anything else they imagine might assist the ship and crew. Often to their detriment.
I have already requested three other Companions to assist Tuan with this problem. We need to take shifts with them. Why? Because Tuan is prone to using more than their waking hours.
Compared with most of the rest of the universe, Humans just don't sleep. Having one of us awake at any hour can help prevent... incidents.
It's healthier for a Human to sleep in their own habitat. Too many times, we have found our Tuan asleep at their work stations. Any of their work stations. Not just the official one, but the stations in which they work when they're not working.
It's been an effort to get them to eat regularly.
Getting them to sleep appropriately is the next hurdle.
Especially since Tuan feels like they have to repay our kindness and love with more effort to "make it even".
Small wonder that so much of the Alliance believes that humanity is insane.
