En un lugar del barco hecho para la tripulación, el humano colocó suaves peluches casi tan grandes como el humano para consolarlos. -- Anon Guest
[AN: Translated to English - In a place on the ship made for the crew, the human placed soft stuffed animals almost as large as the human to comfort them.]
Humans are hard, they can withstand many things that would end other Galactics. Humans are soft, and appreciate comfort and companionship. Of course they are the Alliance's living conundrums.
They're also pretty much bonkers as a species, but you have to take some caveats with the entire package.
Aboard the Seeking Tendril, that meant Human Hal, who couldn't not share anything she loved. Safety precautions enabled, of course. This time, it manifested as ominously compacted packages in odd, poison-coded colours. Hal greeted each one with some cackles that did nothing to boost anyone else's confidence. Neither did the words, "I can't wait to pop the cork on each of these and watch them grow."
The shipboard betting pool was entirely wrong about what the flakk their Human was going to produce from the packages.
They were... animal-shaped, though they were the most unlikely animals ever concocted by the warped minds of humankind. Each had goofy expressions on their fabric faces, and each was placed between the seats in the break room. Each of them had limbs that could wrap around any cogniscent on board.
"I'm not always around for y'all's emotional needs. So... these are kind of substitutes. Sort of. You like my squishy bod and gentle hugs, so. Uhm. If you're feeling lonely and I'm not available? These are also warm and soft and you can wrap yourself up and just... feel... safe."
The rest of the crew stared.
"It's all I could think of to help everyone," said Hal.
"Why are they poison colours?"
"They're... flower colours," corrected Hal. "I picked all the colours from flower pictures you liked on the socials."
They didn't have the heart to tell her that it was about the combinations in the selection.
