Humans are insane. Humans are dangerous. Humans are deadly. Under the right circumstances, Humans can alter fate, change your life, and defy the odds against them. Sometimes, if you're the wrong sort of individual, they can also be the wrong circumstances.
Humans are also pursuit predators.
They bypassed the need for claws, fangs, horns, poisons or venoms by relentlessly walking after their injured prey until their chosen victim succumbed. Thousands of years may have passed, but the key to their advancement had never been forgotten.
Zhetilli Ankhrian had purchased the fastest and most maneuverable vessel that her remaining finances could acquire. Everything she would need to survive her flight on board.
She only forgot one thing: She had to sleep, and autopilots were only good in areas that were adequately mapped.
Zhetilli went straight for the areas beyond the Edge, where only the foolish or the desperate would dare to venture. Thus, if she wanted to rest, she had to find a very good place to hide. This was something she learned after the first few urgent alerts woke her from her attempted slumber.
It shouldn't have been surprising that the Humans caught up with her. Forcefully docking and blowing their way in.
She was too tired to struggle when they put the restraints on her.
"See? We barely even needed the luck."
"You say that after those pirates suffered a critical engine failure, last time."
"I mean we didn't need the luck to catch her okay?" The Human brute in full battle armour lifted Zhetilli up as if she were a toy. "You deregger-brained [BIOLOGICAL WASTE VENTS] always think the same. Save yourself, [INTERCOURSE] everyone else. 'Course... we had teams that worked in shifts. Plenty of time for work, rest, and play."
One of the Humans started singing something about one of the planets in their native solar system.
"Powers dang it, Urd!"
Maybe she could plead time served in the company of these maniacs as part of her sentence.
