A creature, once evil, cruel, corrupt, now greatly changed, comes up to Wraithvine offering a white rose. A peace offering. -- Anon Guest
It had been at least a millennium since the last time they'd met the immortal Wizard. Zygorguk the Imp had received hir mercy and had their entire existence changed. For a start, they could never go back to the Plane of Torment.
Demons could not return to their origin realm if they appreciated kindness. It's all about the relativity of experiences.
There had been centuries of thought about the subject, but Zygorguk had come to peace with their situation. It helped to attach themself to a Wizard, or even a Wizarding school. Both of those options were unavailable. Zygorguk had disguised themself as a Gnome until another avenue opened up.
That avenue was right across the crossroads. Patchwork hat and robes made to last. Black heart hammering in their chest, Zygorguk bought a single white rose and approached the Immortal Wizard.
Wraithvine saw through the illusion and almost instinctively went into a defensive stance.
"I come in peace," Zygorguk said quickly, offering the rose. "I'm lost and far from home. I can never go back... and I'm hunted for what I am."
Wraithvine frowned for a second. "Oh... The Mourning Mountains' Necromancer. Ratyk, wasn't it? A wedge of cheese and some buttered bread."
"All made with kind hands in the spirit of generosity," said Zygorguk. "It changed me forever."
"Oh. Yes. It would. You need a Wizard."
"Yes. Please?" That word should have burned Zygorguk's tongue, but the blisters had stopped appearing years ago.
Stars could have fallen. The sun could have turned black. Mountains and clouds could have swapped places. Nothing was more suprising than a literal demon possessing good manners. Saying 'please'.
"You have changed," said Wraithvine. Ze accepted the rose. "Very well. I shall be your Wizard. Until such time as there's no need for me."
