They leave gifts for the Faekindred kind known as Brauniin. Small desserts, bottles of fruit juice, honey cakes, etc. Why? Because these kind faerie were there for them, and stopped them from hurting themselves when they were at their deepest despair, and helped them recover. -- Anon Guest

It began with a loaf of bread. A baker took pity on Trash and pressed a small loaf into the young Hellkin's hands. Trash immediately broke it in half and gifted it to Nudibranch.
Because of the blessing, the baker did well. Three meals' worth of good fortune happened to them. Rapidly. It didn't take much to work out the causation.
Be kind to the village Hellkin, and fortune follows fast.
Trash was initially suspicious. They had always connected kindness with an inevitable kick in the teeth. No law enforcement came to steal away a cloak or a blanket gifted by a citizen. In fact, the Watch had stopped giving Trash trouble for having anything at all.
It was one of the gate guards who took in Trash and Nudibranch in the end. A simple act of kindness, like setting up a little cot by the simple stove in the corner of the guardhouse, and making sure there was always a small stock of food.
Trash always shared. And when Guardsman Caern got a promotion and a new house, he made a room for Trash and his little friend.
"Come or go as you like," he said, showing them the room. "But remember, you are always welcome here." Caern might have suspected Nudibranch's true nature, since he served hir honeyed milk whenever he could.
Kindness became its own reward. Trash, aged seven, put himself between Caern and an attacking brigand. A brigand who managed to snap his sword in three and accidentally stabbed himself.
The blessing remained true.
From that day on, Trash was the village's lucky mascot. They had everything they could need. Including an education.
Nudibranch faded from notice. Allowed hirself to be seen less and less.
Nevertheless, every night, Trash made sure to leave hir a sweet cake and a cup of honeyed milk.
