I really don’t want to explain the minute details of localizing my existence, but the broad strokes of it are, it takes a vast amount of energy to anchor myself to this point. The energy that is used and the corresponding residuals is not safe for this plane of existence. Using your particular soul will act as both as a fuel source and Coordinates, but don’t worry at most you’ll only lose about two days or a week maximum of your lifespan.
As long nothing serious hinders my task... -- Anon Guest
There is a very fine line between devotion to an ideal and eldritch horror. Where one draws that line is, alas, a matter of perspective.
Aubine was an excellent healer. Some said the hallowed light of Lenus shone through her skin. She automatically repelled those who sided with corruption and hate. Which did not include any Unwelcome people just trying to get me through the day.
It was when the Adventurers followed her into the caverns of Kraskya, that the trouble began. That was where the objective of her quest lay. She could not delay. It was the will of Lenus to recover something lost and forsaken down there. Something very important. Something stolen.
"Why do you need to get it so bad?"
"It's a piece of divinity. It should never have remained in the mortal realm. It's now causing too much trouble. Something... profane... is using m-- hir power to possess what was never meant to be theirs."
That stumble was telling, but what it told hadn't been clear. Verity, the Hellkin cleric of the Goddess of Hospitality, was growing concerned. "Freja told me of the importance of your quest... but not the reason. Sometimes? I can feel something odd about you. About your health. Please? For the love of friendship? Especially the friendship between us... Tell me what the matter is?"
Aubine kept walking very quickly. She winced as she did so. "I... am not entirely Aubine. She agreed to become my avatar for this mission, as mortal hands cannot hold the... piece... for very long. Not if they want to survive the process."
And immortal hands were few and far between.
"Becoming an avatar of a god has an intense cost."
"I know. We. Know. Aubine was willing when I called. And I leave her when she needs sleep, but she is... falling. I could not arrive in her convenience, owing to the influence of the usurper. She had to carry me."
"The whole TIME?" boggled Hal, Paladin of Tyr. "But that means..."
"Yes," Lenus hung Aubine's head. "I am, in essence, burning her to save the world. The longer we delay, the less of her is left."
They agreed. They had to hurry. All to end a lich who had usurped a piece of a god.
