The adult giant was nearly 10 ft tall, kinda short for their kind. Their parentals, humans, lived near the massive cottage where the giant lived. When asked by other giants why "bugs were allowed here", the giant angrily would state "Don't you dare insult my parents!" -- Anon Guest
Others of hir kind called hir 'Shrimp' because ze was only twice the height of the average Human. Small for Giantkind. Hir real name was Elianto, and her parents loved and cherished hir.
There were challenges to raising babies of a different species, no matter what the adoptive parents were. Baby Kobolds were eager and enthusiastic to work. Baby Gobelliin were wont to hide in darker corners and chew on anything they could lay their hands on. Baby Faekindred, Hellkin, or Hallobloods 'leaked' magic according to their moods... and so on. As for baby Giants, well...
It was easier to accommodate the parents around the child. Commission or befriend a D'varuh to make the furniture, because a baby Giant doesn't know their own strength, and the D'varuv make things to last. Invest in sailcloth, you will find out why.
It's hard work, but it's always worth it. Just like any stretch of parenting.
Elianto learned early about 'gentle' and 'careful'. The wider world was not made for Giants. It was made for Dragons, originally, but they had no need for furniture, cities, or civilisation. People did and Elianto had to be careful with all of it.
Ze was twelve when ze first saw another of hir kind. Giants tended to stay away from 'smallfolk' settlements in an effort to reduce tensions on both sides. Elianto was about to learn all about that prejudice.
Ze had to ask permission to pick hir Mama up to show her, and then get permission to carefully pick hir way to where the other giants were doing their thing. They were well above twice Elianto's size, and sneered at hir.
"You got a bug on your shoulder," said one, then added an insulting, "Little one."
"That's my Mama," said Elianto. "She's not a bug. She's a people."
"She's a people," mocked another, much to the amusement of the other two. "Clear off, squirt. The real people are talking."
Two days later, the three would try to menace Elianto's town for more than they could afford to give. That was when they learned, to their detriment, that Elianto had been taught well.
Not just how to fight, but that it was perfectly fine to hurt bullies. Especially if ze stopped them from hurting anyone else.
Ze was relatively small, but knew how to use hir size and speed to hir advantage. Plus a Master of Martial Arts took pride in being able to teach hir all about pressure points and nerve clusters.
The other Giants were a great deal more polite ever after that.
