There are ways that are not cures, but it can ensure the lungs no longer fill. Though that does mean your chest is going to hurt like hell for quite some time while you heal. It's not 100%, true. But at least it'll no longer threaten to drown you. Though you may find you get ill more often at times.

My room is so full of medical fog that I don't see the Adventurers enter. When they come into focus, they look almost as rough as I feel. Filthy from travel, and still bearing some scars from combat. One of them walked with a limp. Another had an arm in a sling.
Their leader had some small plant in a terrarium charmed to keep it in an ideal environment.
"It's not a cure," he said. "We tried to find one, but... this was the best we could get."
They had instructions. Chew one leaf a day. Preferably before trying to sleep. It would slow the accumulation of fluid over a month. Their Druid would help keep it verdant. They found an artificer to create similar terrariums so they could propagate the supply.
Most of their adventure was securing the coin necessary to pay for everything.
"Nobody should suffer like you," said the leader. "There's others around the world who have your ailment. They've also been praying for relief. If this works on the worst case... It's a boon on the rest of the world."
So I'm the worst known case. Fun to know. I summoned the breath to say, "How long... before you know... it's working?"
"Months," said the Druid. "For you, it will be very slow, but the relief will become evident."
"Honestly," said their leader. "I'll enjoy the chance to rest."
I'll be keeping a terrarium by my bedside, and praying for a decent outcome. May that little plant become my best friend.
