Good day to my fellow writers and Steemians.
Welcome to the third fiction writing competition week 1.
I know there are a few writers that have been looking forward to the start of the next round of the competition since the announcement of the winners from the last round you can find here. One thing I am quite sure of is the fact that we as a community were able to give the winner of the second round quite a surprise with the reward. I would like for your continued support to help aspiring writers taking part in the competition feel the same love as well. Please support them with your UpGoats and comments.
What is Fiction Competition?
I am still working on trying to revise some of the rules of the competition so that they will be beneficial to everyone who takes part. If you haven't heard about fiction comp before and would like to learn more about it then please follow this link and familiarize yourself with the current rules. Hopefully, once I have sketched out the details for the revised rules, I will have a new introduction post up and running since it is difficult to edit an older post once it has paid out.
Writing Prompt!
The long wait is finally over. Since we just finished celebrating Halloween and All Saint's day, I think it might be best if we kick off this round for the month of November with a horror theme. :P Don't worry if you haven't done something like this in the past. Challenge yourself and try to come up with something awesome. There is always a first time for everything right? Our writing prompt for this competition is as follows:
A tourist decides to go for a walk alone in the middle of the night. He nonchalantly walks for a few blocks before realizing the streets are deserted, not a soul or machine in sight. Suddenly people carrying torches pour out from the streets behind in droves and start chasing him. Unable to grasp the situation, he makes a run for it and in the confusion goes down a dark alley with a dead end. With nowhere to turn, he is soon captured by the mob. He notices that every single one of them is wearing a white mask but the thing that filled him with dread is the fact that gazing back at him were not eyes but hollow sockets.
Phew...that is a tough one...even for me...I am getting the creeps already from that prompt...I remember...I talked about how I walk down some dark alleys when going back home at night just recently...I hope this scenario doesn't happen to me...I might get a heart attack. Give it your best shot guys :)
Submission Time & Rules:
Most of the rules are already laid out in the introduction post but I guess it doesn't hurt to have them in this post as well so that everyone can be sure of them.
1: Follow , Upvote, and Resteem the competition post for both weeks.
2: Minimum word count for the short story is 750 words and Maximum of 1500 words.
3: The story should be based on the prompt that is given in this post.
4: Comment the link to your Steemit story in this contest post.
Please remember to drop the links to your story in the comments by the 11th of November 2017.
You could also let your friends who are interested in story writing take this chance and join the competition by giving them a heads up. This way we will have lots of participants and many interesting stories to read. Good luck to all the writers taking part in the contest and much love to all you wonderful Steemians out there. :)
Much love <3 and thanks for reading! Looking forward to reading all your entries. :)
