Greetings to all Steemians and Writers!
Welcome to the 2nd week of the 3rd Fiction writing competition.
Our 3rd fiction writing competition started off with a horror theme for the month of November. To be honest I was feeling a bit nervous because not many people prefer to work with horror. It requires a lot of details in order to scare the readers and sometimes superstitions also play a part. After all the writer doesn't want to be scared too. I have been experimenting and I am thinking of making it a recurring thing of choosing a theme for each month in order to help the writers draw out their potentials using different types of genres.
What saddens me the most is that our pot didn't grow by a lot this month...it is currently at 1.420 SBD for the winner. :-( I hope the second week will help the pot grow by a lot.
The introduction post for Fiction Comp can be found here. If you are new to this competition, it will help you get up to speed with the rules and how the competition is run.
A tourist decides to go for a walk alone in the middle of the night. He nonchalantly walks for a few blocks before realizing the streets are deserted, not a soul or machine in sight. Suddenly people carrying torches pour out from the streets behind in droves and start chasing him. Unable to grasp the situation, he makes a run for it and in the confusion goes down a dark alley with a dead end. With nowhere to turn, he is soon captured by the mob. He notices that every single one of them is wearing a white mask but the thing that filled him with dread is the fact that gazing back at him were not eyes but hollow sockets.
Three awesome authors brought us quite the scary stories for this month's writing prompt. Believe it or not, these three short stories gave me quite the scare after I read them. Each and every story was well thought off and well paced to keep the readers grasping for more. I will not take up too much of your time, the stories submitted for this round are:
What Mr. Mendes Saw a short story by takes us on quite the ride. At first glance, it seems like just an ordinary conversation between a psychologist and her patient. Will we find out what transpired?

A Midnight Chase by . A couple goes on a vacation to Genoa only to end up arguing. Before things could escalate any further Aaron decides to leave the room to go for a walk. Will this be the last walk he takes as a married man? Or Will some alone time help him to come to a better decision? What awaits him in the streets of Genoa?

Saipan Sucks! by . Danny convinces him to visit Saipan for vacation, he wouldn't shut up about it. He showed him pictures, videos and even told him stories about the place. Will this trip give him the same experience his friend had? Is the hostel he is staying in hiding dark secrets?

To be honest if I could I would give all three of you a reward but sadly I can't. :( I don't have enough funds for that but as this competition grows and the new plan for it that I am currently working on comes to fruition, I am sure a lot of people will come out happy in the end. I really enjoyed reading all the stories and they did give me quite the scare so to me they are all winner in my eyes.
Please give the wonderful writers listed here your awesome upgoat to support their work. :) They have done an awesome job to bring some amazing stories to keep us entertained and scared. After all there can never be enough upgoats to give around.
All the entries listed in this post are open for judging. Please take some time to read them and do vote on the one you think deserves it the most. I will see you all at the end of the week with the news of our winner for this round. Thank you for reading and have a wonderful time everyone. :)
Good luck to all the contestants and cheers! Keep up the great work! Keep writing and much love <3
Much love to all the readers who are following me and keeping an eye on this competition and others who just happen to drop by and read. <3
