Terra, please play Mozart Symphony No. 41
You are probably wondering what the hell are we doing on this moon while listening to Mozart? Well. Sometimes I wonder about that too still. It has been a while we, Terra and I have traveled among the stars and explored the worlds. It always was more appealing than staying back on Earth with the rest of them playing infinite war games of boredom, egos, and influence in the virtual.
We managed not to blow ourselves to pieces. With the arrival of AI and technological explosion like nothing we had ever seen or imagined before, it did not take long for all of us to pass to the virtual, leaving our physical bodies behind. There were those who stayed behind to live their human lives till it was time to die and then transcended. There were those who simply chose to pass in a natural way and never joined the afterlife. Understandable. Free will and choices.
I am a copy of my original self. A side chain if you will. If I die on the mission here today, I will still exist on Earth safely tucked away in the original block. You must think that I feel lonely out here, all alone? I am not really alone. Did I tell you that I took some of you with me? Well, copies of you. Copies you authorized. Once we return home our memories and experiences will become one. All these different lives we lead and different versions of us will become one. Sounds complex? It is beautiful chaos, trust me.
Drones are back. Time to go. Want to come with?
A Perfect replica of what once was her original shell slid through the open hatch of the ship. The suit and her long, long hair illuminated as soon as her feet touched the charcoal-like surface of the moon. She laughed a silent laugh only she could hear loudly in her mind while freely floating around, curiously observing and playing with the stardust.
