On A Sunday ,Morning.
One thing that her Mom insisted at all times, 'you should not visit the house of the Lord empty handed'. To affirm her words, she used to place a coin a day on the top most shelf above the tired bed. And on every Sunday morning, the accumulated coins would be shared in between them for the day's offering in church.
She took less coins compared to the past. She left a good number, just in case a certain day ended up giving her nothing she'd buy some floor to spice up the harsh life she was living.
"It's down two months and I haven't paid any rent. Mswaki might have forgotten about this room since am only here between late nights and early mornings". She'd console herself. See, the landlord used to hard knock the doors asking for rent early morning of every fifth day of the month while holding a big toothbrush in his hand with no paste, for show off they said. That's how he earned himself the name Mswaki.
