When mother disagreed with the offer to have breakfast together, Lucrecia and Leon went to the kitchen after bathing and getting dressed. Together they made breakfast and had coffee, sitting at a table together to eat. She didn't worry about not helping her mom arrange a funeral. There was no desire for it. The man who called himself a father got what he deserved, she thought.
As soon as they started eating, a bell rang from the stairwell door. Wondering what could be here, Leon stood up and went down the hallway and opened the stair door to someone and stayed at the door. Soon after coming, Lucrecia noticed him staring through the door eye.
"Some kind of man here."
She immediately thought is it just not going to be that commissioner which her mom talked about. However she just nodded without saying anything.
The doorbell rang. Looking through the eye Leon asked what's here. Lucrecia was not mistaken – behind the door stood Commissioner Filip Rejevičius. As she nodded, Leon unlocked the door and let the man in. As Philip entered, he hurried to lock the door. She glared at the Commissioner.
"I guess what you came for. My mom told me she was talking to you."
She waved to the side of the site and turned to go. Both men followed behind. Threesome entered the sitting-room where they sat on dark brown wood chairs covered with floral upholstery. in front of them stood a wooden table of similar shade. The Commissioner leaned back in the chest of drawers behind which door standing graphines with a variety of alcoholic beverages, a few bottles of wine and different size glasses. To the right of Philip there was a much larger oak table in front of the window. Several massive chairs stood in front of him.
For a moment, Lucrecia let this man look around the room with his eyes. She then reminded her that she had come to talk about her father's death.
"That's right."
"Don't delay," she urged her without suggesting anything to him.
"Your mother mentioned that you were away somewhere." Philip looked at her.
"Truth. We were in Switzerland."
"I went there for work," Leon added.
Lucrecia crossed her legs.
"I accompanied him."
Philip didn't think they could lie. Still, he asked her the same question just like her mother.
"I don't know who, she answered calmly. "Although he was my father, I am not going to mourn his death.
"After all, he is your father." Philip was surprised by such a comment.
"He's not a father!" she shouted. "Would the father leave the family for another woman? Because of that woman, he hurt his mother, ruined his family. Therefore, I am not grieved for his death. Whoever killed him, did service to the world. One unfaithful husband less."
The Commissioner could not believe it.
"Are you so upset about this? Don't you realize he's not the only man on the planet who had a mistress and divorced?" He looked at her intently. "That doesn't mean he didn't love you."
"I don't want to hear about it." She suddenly stood up. "He dismantled his family, which meant I didn't care for him. When you find his killer, thank him for me."
She turned and hurried out of the room. Moments later, both men heard him slamming on the kitchen door. Leon looked at Philip and asked to leave. He is determined not to put salt on the wound, said goodbye and went out.
Leon entered the kitchen.
"Calm down. He's already gone."
She sighed in relief.
Let him think what he wants, she thought. My mother and me father refused when he choosed to divorce. And I will give up my legacy.
