Here is an attempt to try and write short stories again. I used to write a lot of stories on the previous blockchain and I hope I can do it again.
The balloon Seller
He used to sell balloons. Small children came running to him to buy balloons of all sizes and shapes and colors. There were cat balloons and it had even got facial features that the children liked. One day, he met a small boy who stood shyly behind the other children. Around 4 years perhaps, the boy was hesitant to ask for a balloon and his father looked really serious. The balloon seller understood the boy's feelings and looked hopefully at the father who seemed too busy with his phone. The boy slowly touched his father's hand and asked for a balloon. The father looked at the balloon seller and nodded. The balloon seller bend down and asked the small boy which one he would like and the boy smiled and pointed out to the red one that had mustard seeds in it with a stick so that it would make noise when moved. The father paid for it and walked away with his son. The son looked back and smiled at the balloon seller who felt very emotional. If only the father realized how the small boy yearned for the dad's affection.
The lady
She was happy but her family wanted more. They wanted her to make sure that they also got the riches from her husband. She was confused but at each step, her parents were there to advise her on what to do. Fights were orchestrated. Words were spoken. Tantrums created. Yet the desired 'riches' were not yet reachable. Would it take a divorce? Perhaps, yes. Arguments became longer and provocation to the next level. Then the 'hit' happened and they decided it was the winning game. She walked out and demanded that he come and apologize. The family waited but things did not happen as planned because he was too egoistic and quite frankly, he was tired of all the drama and emotions. Physical pleasures were not worth all this trouble and he kept quiet. There was no emotional attachment left and the days went by. She is still waiting. Now she does not know why she fought or argued or why she even 'threw' away her life and wasted what seems to be the most wonderful days of her youth. Years went by and the family left her and she was alone. She wondered where he was now. Last she heard, he had married again and had children. She wanted to see how he treated his second wife. Her wish got fulfilled when she met them on the beach. His children were having fun and he was laughing along with his wife. They did not notice her walking past them. She had become frail and her clothes were nearly worn out. There was no one to blame but herself, she thought. Ego had destroyed her life and life did not give second chances sometimes.
