Last night, made a rather humourous post with respect to a D&D campaign that he was working on, and I offered to make a miniature for the character in question. I probably would have left a screenshot in a comment last night, but it was getting late, so I didn't finish it until this morning. Here's Li'l Jonesey!
He's described as a black lizardfolk rogue, so I gave him a mix of dark green and copper skin, with golden brow scales and claws. He also has gecko eyes. He was originally supposed to be a bard, so I had him wearing some rather fancy threads and carrying a lute on his back, but I changed it upon seeing the edited post.
His weapons are the Rapier of Sharp Wit and Buckler of Blame Deflection (details in the post I linked to, if you haven't read it). Obviously, he's a rather tenacious character in a battle of wits, though his abilities in physical combat are questionable. Let's hope none of his opponents resort to... conventional... tactics.
Then again, when the lizardfolk really are trying to take over the world and no-one believes that, Jonesey's very existence may confound those who stand against him.
Since the scenario this is for is called Hoard of the Dragon Queen, I saw fit to show off yet another character that I had made long ago. This is a shapeshifting naga goddess, who could potentially serve as an over-powered NPC guide.
What I mean by that is that she would encounter the heroes on their journey, her actions would be controlled by the Dungeon Master, and she would join in combat against powerful bosses that the heroes have no hope of defeating, but would still need to lend their aid for. I'm aware that some DMs would cringe at the mere suggestion, but if you like the idea, keep reading.
Her main weapon is a magic bow, one which she created with her own power and bound a demon within. The naga goddess keeps most of her power hidden, only bringing it out as a counter to the demon when the bow is awakened. This process would take time, and if the heroes find themselves fighting against a boss too powerful for them to bring down, they'd have to simply distract the boss long enough for her to strike the killing blow.
Perhaps each of those demonic arrows is an irrefutable argument, going along with the existing theme; in any case, no enemy could withstand even being grazed by one. As I said, this is a character that I made long ago, so I don't quite know if she'd fit in with the story I'm talking about. I have no clue how the little dragon hatchling would fit in, either.
As the battle rages on, the naga goddess becomes more reptilian in appearance, eventually transforming into a sort of dragon, and the demon bow can also transform.
Of course, this particular design may also provide some ideas for a boss, able to fly short distances and continually confound the heroes with erratic movements.
This is one of those designs that made just because I could. I don't really have any story ideas at this point.
So, what do you think? Do you like where this is going? Did I give you any more ideas?
Do I need to stop this nonsense and go back to my own projects?
