Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire, burn; and, caldron, bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
-William Shakespeare, "Macbeth," Act IV, Scene I
I guess that would make this the second witch, since those were her lines. I thought it fitting only because those are the best-known.
As you can see, this model is in full colour, as Hero Forge 2.0 has finally been released to the public. Those who have followed the Hero Forge tag for a while may remember seeing coloured models before, but that feature was available only to financial supporters (Kickstarter backers, etc.) until quite recently. Ever since, I've been going through all my models, "painting" them. This design is one that I had previously made, but decided not to share until today (coloured or not).
This is a rather generic witch, with a small caldron and surrounded by rats. The bone in her hand is fresh - what (or who) is it from, and what is its purpose? The famous scene from Macbeth doesn't mention bones, specifically, but it mentions teeth and plenty of other body parts that one would expect to contain bones. What use the bones might have is known to none, save perhaps the witch hunters; and they are infamously taciturn.
I don't know of what use this particular miniature might have, as I made it for fun, just like some of my other "standard" fantasy characters, such as Death. Speaking of which, I have since painted him, so if you'd like to see some more spooky props, I'd be happy to share the updates.
Happy Halloween!
